Note:

This unsigned and undated lot, previously given to John Crome, has a typed biography of the artist affixed verso.

Joseph Paul, to whom this lot was later given by the AGO, exhibited at the Norwich Society of Artists in 1823, 1829 and 1832. After 1832, Paul fled from Norwich and acquired a studio in or near London where he and his assistants turned out forgeries of old London views by Constable, Crome and other East Anglian painters.
