Additional Images
Provenance:
Private Collection, Toronto, ON
Note:
A favoured subject of Davidialuk Alasua Amittu, Katyutayuuq was historically one of the most dreaded monsters in Inuit mythology, commonly represented as a huge female ogre and cannibal with enormous breasts protruding from her face. [1,2.] Here Katyutayuuq is depicted with a distorted, twisted mouth suckling on her own breast.
