Note:
At the time this letter was written the H. M. S. Prince Regent was trapped in Kingston harbour, as the US controlled the lake and Dobbs, who was Commander of the Earl of Moira, the Earl of Charwell, the Star and the Netley was in the Niagara River. most likely at Fort George or Fort Niagara. The note is probably a warning to Dobbs not to head out on the water for danger of being overcome by the US Navy.
