Note:

John Burgon Bickersteth (1888-1979), an academic and poet, was Warden of Hart House, University of Toronto, Canada from 1921 to 1947.

During the First World War he served in The Royal Dragoons, writing The History of the 6th Cavalry Brigade, and twice won the Military Cross. During the Second World War he was seconded to the War Office as Director of Army Education.
