Note:

Also known as “cymphopane”, the cat’s-eye variety of chrysoberyl displays a dramatic optical effect called “chatoyancy”, where minute gas tubules and rutile needles in the stone reflect to give the look of a feline eye. The most valuable of these stones are called “milk and honey” referring to a white line through a deeply coloured yellow-brown stone, but cat’s-eyes can occur in many shades from almost white to dark browns and greens. It is excellent for use as a gemstone because of its dramatic look, and its extreme hardness with only diamonds, rubies and sapphires being harder materials.
