2018 was a landmark year for Waddington’s Fine Wine Department.
With over 2,000 individual lots of wine and 650 lots of spirits sold, our auctions averaged 98.59% sold (including two white glove, 100% sold auctions), at an average of 120% of our estimates. While volume remained consistent from 2017, prices realised increased over 10%. Boosted by the first two parts of the Tom Willcock Collection, our Fine Spirits auctions grew by over 50% in 2018.
In other words, we are thrilled with the results and wish to thank all our buyers and vendors for your continuing support. We promise to keep it up in 2019 as we put together our quarterly auctions featuring the best and most sought after wines in the world!
Speaking of 2019, we will start off with a flourish with Part III of the Tom Willcock Collection and two Fine Wine auctions that will include a Live Fine Wine auction on Saturday, February 23, at Waddington’s King Street East, Toronto galleries. We will also be holding our Fine Wine online auction which runs February 18 – 26. Details of the live event, which will include a luncheon, will be released early in the New Year.
The year’s end is always a great to time to reflect and be thankful for all the many people who make our work so pleasurable and satisfying. So many thanks to our partners at the LCBO who provide us with marketing support, to our friends at Irongate Wine for storage and fulfillment, and our colleagues at Waddington’s, whose work behind the scenes enables our success.
First and finally, thank you to you, our clients!
Wishing you many great wine experiences over the holidays and best wishes for a happy and prosperous New Year!
